Years back I was leading a group of non- profit organization in San Diego. We had about 9-11 board members. We had an event that we all were preparing for and towards the end we had a little setback.
We were all discussing how to approach this situation. As one of our board member said let’s cancel the event completely. And he went a little too far enough and took the opportunity to make this event all about him and his ego. Diverting attention from the core situation which in my awareness wasn’t bad at all just needed a tweak but ok, here he goes off bringing fear to the situation, personal threats, making it all about men, women in authority, bringing doubt and question to the leadership and skill, threatening to stop the organization and what it stood for if he did not get his way, feeding information to people in the room and to people in the community that had nothing to do with what we were talking about? Ya talk about evil/ chaos in action. In short once things got quiet in the room. There was only one guy and myself on the same page. Rest were still choosing what to do.
So as a leader I chose to go ahead with the event as planned with some back up and tweaking whatever it took to keep it going. Because my focus and intent about my position and this organization and this event wasn’t about me, wasn’t about fear, wasn’t about the fame or recognition, wasn’t about what will people say, wasn’t about who is in authority, ego, power or to prove to anyone or anything, it wasn’t about me winning or loosing.
My focus was on the bigger picture serving the organization which I was responsible for as a leader. The intent I had created this event in the first place was to serve and raise money for a non profit to help in need.
I wasnt afraid at all. But one bad apple causing chaotic shit in my world of order that I could not fathom with because all his choice did was serve him not the greater good by his thoughts, action and words of intent.
So I made a statement as the leader to chose to continue with the event whether anyone was with me or not. And yes I did have that right to choose according to our organization by- laws. And they say truth, justice always prevails . Regardless of the havoc my DJ showed up, event was a hugeeee success in the history of this organizations chapter and we made enough to give the help we could.
It is our responsibility to choose leaders who are about serving the greater good and not making it all about themselves. To choose who stand for truth and not lie. Who stand for justice and not fraud and manipulation. Who are responsible in there choices, words and action.
We are here to serve. This planet is about serving in our own life and to our planet as ONE.
The energy this week reminds you that you live in an increasingly global community. Your modern technology has made it possible for you to communicate instantly among yourselves, no matter where in the world you are. Whether you like it or not, you are all connected to one another. As Chief Seattle said, “Man did not weave the web of life. He is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.” You are more closely connected in “the web of life” than ever before in human history. And therefore, now – more than ever before – what even a single individual among you does affects every other human on the planet. The good of one is the good of all. The willingness to allow the differences while compassionately working toward the common good is the goal here. Fighting against the differences will only ensure more divisiveness. Accepting the differences while sincerely wanting the highest good for all is the only way you will ever ensure a truly connected world. A world where all are equal, all are accepted. A world where there truly is a sense of community.
Affirmation: I am aware that the good of one is the good of all.

A 34-year old artist who goes by the name Lito has been living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) his entire life. Lito had been searching for an outlet where he could channel his above-normal levels of concentration and obsessiveness when he discovered the Japanese art of kirie (切り絵, literally ‘cut picture’). Earlier this year in January he began experimenting, not with paper, but with leaves.
According to a recent interview, leaves turned out to be an ideal medium for Lito as their decomposing nature forced him to work quickly. Over time he got faster and his daily creations, which he began posting to social media, became more intricate.
Following the standard kirie practice, each piece is always cut from a single leaf. But Lito always leaves traces of the leaf’s midrib, perhaps a sign of respect towards the leaf. Lito also always manages to imbue his creations with a playful narrative, one that is either inspired by film or books, or plucked from the artist’s own imagination.

This video reminded me of an interesting project that was given to me to work on. A time when I moved from South Carolina to California back in 2003/2004 to start a new job. Young and filled with possibilities took a leap of faith and joined a high end designer in California to design his textile collection. He had an array of rich textiles from all over the world. It had been about 2 years since my graduation from Savannah College of Art and Design, very eager and excited to learn my way through the shades of textiles.
He had a screen printing facility in house. And back in time hand screen printing, making your own screens, huge printing tables were a big thing. Still maybe alive but not as much as it used to be back in the days. And my first assignment was to create 2 complete set of Pantone swatches with the screen printing pigment dyes on fabric. Kinda creating a fabric Pantone book/ binder for his library. Ha! Yup it was quite a task on hand. There were 2000 colors I had to create and print on a fabric and note the values of how I got that color. All I could think to myself is “what”? You want me to create these 2000 colors? My monkey mind got real busy with all kinds of stupid negative thoughts. But I was excited to be there and learn so I did not let my monkey mind override the truth. And the truth was I loved the opportunity given to me and if this is how it starts then so be it. Pulled myself together and got back on mixing colors. And it was a beautiful project. Easy, effortless and fun. In the beginning it was slow but as I started to understand the medium and the craft of making colors the task became fun, play and meditative.
Everyday from morning to evening for quite many months all I did was mix colors, until I reached a point to perfect the art of knowing colors and when and how much to add or subtract to get the desired shade or tint.
This practice, knowledge gave me insight into color and color making. The reason I share this as it has taught me a very valuable lesson. Lesson of being persistent and consistent, not to loose hope or to give up just because of what you think you should be doing or not doing in your mind. No job is small or big. No matter at that moment and time you don’t realize the value it is bringing you but hang on and walk through that project. You will be grateful for this task you were given to do. Every job/ task has a meaning, purpose. And it is given to you because only you could do it. And there is no one like you. Even though at first it looked like a huge task but if it wasn’t for this exercise I would have missed learning the importance of colors and it’s journey.
By the time I was done I did of course truly enjoyed the joy of colors. It was meditative, fun, soothing and healing for me. Every color has its own magickal presence, Vibration, vitality, strength and personality.
Matter of fact every task, job that I was given no matter how hard or easy the boss was or the task was it led me to connecting me to my trueself. My artist within. It is an opportunity for you to grow and know yourself within.
